Description

These are iced tea spoons made from 1924, 1926, 1931 and 1934 Brazilian 2000 Reis coins and are topped with quartz finials. Some coin dealers list these as sterling but the 1924 coin was 50% silver or Brazilian silver. I am assuming the others are also Brazilian silver but could possibly be sterling. I have not had them tested. None, including the handles, are magnetic, so that indicates silver. The coin cup is inscribed 'Republica dos Estados Unidos do Brasil 2000 Reis. The spoons are 8 1/4" long with twisted stems. The finials are semiprecious stones, please study the pictures. I haven't identified them all, but one is smoky quartz and one is adventurine. There are 5 spoons total, 2 are 1924 and there are 1 each from 1926, 1931 and 1934. Total weight of all: 86 grams. They are a rather rare, unusual item for a collector of vintage silver and coins.
